PROJECT CHALLENGE
BEAR Scotland, a leading road maintenance firm, manages and maintains several vital road networks across Scotland, including the South East and North West Trunk Roads, the M92 (Dundee to Arbroath), the M80 (Stepps to Haggs), and the Forth Road Bridges. As part of their Trunk Road Maintenance programme, BEAR needed to ensure that the stone used on the central reservation, which assists vehicles in slowing during emergencies, was cleaned and replaced efficiently.
SERVICE DELIVERED
Enviro-Clean supported BEAR Scotland in recovering this material from the trunk roads and transporting it to our specialised treatment site. To minimise disruption for road users, we carefully programmed the works to be completed during the night as part of an established shift pattern.
Once at our treatment facility, the material was thoroughly washed using our in-house screening unit. After treatment, the cleaned material was transported back to the trunk road sites for re-laying. Our support spanned across the majority of BEAR’s Southern estate, covering areas from Biggar and Tranent to Kincardine and beyond.
BEAR selected Enviro-Clean due to our competitive tender offer and our proven track record in similar projects. The strength and capacity of our fleet, combined with our expertise, were also decisive factors in securing this project.
SERVICE BENEFITS TO CLIENT
Environmental Impact: By strategically locating our services across Scotland, Enviro-Clean helped BEAR reduce both costs and time. By washing and treating the materials in-house, with our D:MAX Screening Unit, we ensured that they could be re-used, reducing the need for new materials and supporting sustainability efforts.
