Enviro-Clean can offer support in commercial and domestic environments across Scotland to help maintain Septic Tanks and Grease Traps.
Septic Tanks and Grease Traps require regular maintenance to ensure they function properly and adhere to discharge consent levels set by the relevant regulatory bodies. If sludge and sediments are allowed to accumulate in a tank over a prolonged period, the organic matter will break down and release foul-smelling gases like hydrogen sulphide and methane leading to a foul-smelling area around the tank.
Furthermore, the buildup of sludge impedes the treatment and settlement processes of influent wastewater, prolonging the retention time and subsequently increasing the concentration of suspended solids (rabidity) in the effluent discharged from the tank. This deterioration in water quality can have adverse effects on the environment and public health, necessitating prompt intervention to rectify the situation.
To mitigate these risks, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) advise that septic tanks, interceptors, and grease traps should be de-sludged and cleansed, as a minimum, once per year. By adhering to this maintenance schedule, potential issues can be proactively addressed, ensuring the continued efficiency and compliance of these essential wastewater treatment systems.
With our fleet of dedicated vehicles ranging from small 4x4’s to 4,000-gallon rigid tankers we can access any environment to empty waste from these tanks.
